Laura Warren Hill is a historian and public scholar in Binghamton University’s Department of Human Development. Her work focuses on the intersections of race, gender, and state power, particularly the historical and ongoing impacts of policing and incarceration. As co-founder of the Upstate New York Policing Research Consortium and from a system-affected family, Laura collaborates with scholars, community partners, and other impacted individuals to document the carceral state. She mentors student researchers, leads public scholarship initiatives, and builds digital archives that challenge dominant narratives, centering the voices of those most affected by the criminal legal system to reimagine justice.
